Hot Springs Village, Arkansas!

Every year, my family has been going on a vacation.  This year, we got a rental house on a lake in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas.  It a gated community located in a state forest outside of Hot Springs.  Our rental was really nice, right on a lake, and had a pontoon boat ready for us to use!  We enjoyed relaxing, cooking, playing games, and drinking wine.

When we first arrived, Jarrett and I did some sightseeing in Hot Springs.

The Springs there were actually HOT!
View from the deck of the rental house.

I was pretty nervous about having Stella on the boat.  We tried a couple of life jackets and settled on this one.  Stella hated it.

 Then she fell asleep.

The lake was calm and we were literally the only ones out there most of the time, so I lightened up and we took her jacket off.  We were going very slowly and the boat was heavily loaded down (no offense, family!).

We went into Hot Springs to Galvan Gardens.  It is an Arboretum type park.  We walked around and enjoyed the pretty exhibits.

Stella started sitting up without support on her 6 month birthday!  She "picked out" this toy at a toy store there and loves to play with it.

The ride home was long again, so I busted out the iPad.  It entertained Stella for a few minutes.

We had fun in Arkansas!  Hot Springs is definitely an interesting place.  My mom, sisters, and I went to a traditional "bath house" on afternoon.  It was very... eh hem.. interesting.  We went into an older hotel.  We began the spa day with a thermal water mineral treatment.  They pumped in hot spring water that is untreated and unaltered into a bath tub.  The bath tubs are located in cubicle like shower stalls in a large shower room.  After soaking in the healing mineral water, you have the option of sitting in a "steam cabinet".  It is a room that is roughly the size of a refrigerator with a metal door.  After sitting in there, you lay on a table where the wrap you in heat packs (this was my favorite part).  Then, the wrap a freezing cold towel around your head.  It was ahhh-mazing!  Lastly, they make you shower off in freezing cold water.  Then, you go to your spa treatment.  I had a massage and facial.  It was interesting!  I will take a massage and facial any day!  It was also a great and much needed day to spend with my sisters and mom.  I enjoyed Arkansas and would love to go back.
